On the weekend of Saturday 27th/Sunday 28th May 2023, the fantastic team behind Lawless Comic Con - led by the indomitable Su Haddrell - took over the Doubletree By Hilton Hotel in Bristol to celebrate the great and legendary creators behind some of the best comics coming out of the UK, especially the iconic 2000AD anthology magazine. The Convention Collective's Leonard Sultana (An Englishman In San Diego) was lucky enough to be invited along to panel host a number of the sessions - and, while he didn't run them all, he was able to record a few of the others. Enjoy! ------------- Some of the finest writers, editors and creatives to ever grace the pages of 2000AD - Andy Diggle, Rob Williams, Michael Carroll and John Wagner - come together to talk about their own individual processes, the signs of a good (and bad) script and tips and tricks to keep the creative juices flowing in the right direction.

The Lakes International Comic Art Festival, the established annual celebration of prestige comic artists, creators and publishers, once again took over a picturesque town in the UK's Lake District... but this time they weren't setting up their stalls in Kendal. Instead, they had moved beside your actual lake - I know, how novel! - with LICAF holding court in Bowness-On-Windermere over the weekend of Friday 14th-Sunday 16th October. I wasn't able to make it to the rest of the weekend's festivities - missing, by all accounts, some amazing panels. signings and appearances by world-renowned comic superstars, a performance by Charlie Adlard and his band, karaoke that will only be saved in the memory of those there and some boozy nights! However, what I took in on the Sunday was more than enough to tell me that this iteration of The Lakes International Comic Art Festival continues in the trend of a very respectable and enjoyable comic celebration. Over the weekend of 6th-9th October 2022, The Convention Collective was lucky enough to be granted press access to one of the biggest comic conventions operating in North America: ReedPOP's New York Comic Con, taking residence at the Javits Convention Centre in the Big Apple. As part of the coverage of the show by our Senior Editor, Dan Berry, he was licky enough to get time to talk to some incredible artists, writers, creatives and entrepreneurs, including John Sulaitis (CEO) and Matt Devoe (CCO/co-founder) of comics valuation service Covrprice. When Samuel learns that his wife is pregnant, he does the only thing he can to ensure his child will avoid the same societal debt he has – enlist in the planet’s military ranks as a salvage marine. On Sunday morning, Leonard Sultana (An Englishman In San Diego/The Convention Collective) was invited to host a profile panel with one of the true comics masters, not just in the UK but across the entire industry: Brian Bolland. Brian's work has graced the pages and covers of some of the most iconic books over the past decades and here Brian talks about that work from the perspective of 'Brian Bolland, 2022'...

On Sunday morning, Leonard Sultana (An Englishman In San Diego/The Convention Collective) was invited to host a profile panel on one of the newest kids on the block - The 77 Publications which, under a number of titles, has gathered a blistering array of creators and cartoonists to produce comics which hark back to a generation of books, steeped in nostalgia but very much with a contemporary slat. Here, Leonard speaks to one of the co-founders of The 77, Ben Cullis, along with three of the creators on the slate, new face Andrew Sawyers and comics legends Lew Stringer and Steve MacManus.
