50 | The Grateful Showcase: Ryan McShane
04/12/2017 Duration: 01h16minOne of the things I treasure most about our next guest on The Grateful Showcase is his ability to build relationships. Relationships and connection that run well below the surface. I have had some of the most warming and fulfilled lunch and coffee conversations with this gentleman. Although, it seems like our path to initial connection took an army. It took a series of a friend of a friend, a colleague of a colleague, insisting that we connect for it to finally happen.

49 | The Grateful Showcase: Douglas "DK" Knight
29/11/2017 Duration: 01h25minIf there is one thing that I learned about myself in college it was that I need people for things to make sense. While pursuing a business degree filled with classes on economics and operations management, I struggled to master the concepts surrounding widgets. My only saving grace was the introduction of HR Management Strategic Practices which essentially replaced widgets with people. It was this change that made all the difference, I got it when we were talking people. I also fully understood how the concepts expanded to take into account that we are dealing with people not widgets, something that doesn't always come so easy for operations driven individuals. DK was that for me and the non-profit sector.

48 | The Grateful Showcase: Tony Hernandez
20/11/2017 Duration: 01h17minThere is no other way to say it, Tony is a beautiful soul, inside and out. He has become a professional colleague and close friend. Our relationship I value so immensely, for one reason, as Dr. Brené Brown would say, he shows up in the arena. Not only does he show up in his arena, he shows up in yours. He is along side you for the ride and when you fall down, because you will, he helps you get up.

47 | External vs. Internal Critic
12/10/2017 Duration: 24minIn this episode, I'm talking about the internal and external critic. Recently, I've struggled with owning the authentic voice I have just found because of criticism. The outside influencers that say I should be one thing and the internal belief that tells me something else.

44 | My Truth of Today
31/08/2017 Duration: 18minI think back to my childhood and how loosely, as a child, I would use this term about hating people, and there's some people who do some awful things. They do awful things, but to truly hate someone is bringing up an emotion within you that is just so dark and so heavy. When I see it being present in any form, my heart breaks and my heart breaks for the person who is feeling the hate and unable to see it through a lens of love. It makes me concerned and worried about where that path is going to take them.

43 | What Are You Afraid Of?
17/08/2017 Duration: 15minBut as I'm going through this and I'm getting real with the fact that I'm terrified about my dreams, about my goals, about my future, about discovering if I ... not if I, but accepting that I am worthy and my dreams are real and that I can make them happen. I started to realize that I'm not alone in this venture. Around me there's several people that are being held back by fear.

42 | Building Your Tribe
11/08/2017 Duration: 21minIf you don't think you need one I would truly evaluate how could a tribe like this add value or add to your fulfillment for your life? And then on the flip side if your trying to get one and you feel like you can't find these relationships and you're getting dead ends. What assumptions are you making?

41 | The Influence of Others
03/08/2017 Duration: 19minI was the girl that cried all the time as a reaction to anything, because almost everything was just so overwhelming in regards to emotions that all I could do was cry. That was the only way I could process it, especially as a little girl. And then, as life went on, I taught myself that it was a sign of weakness and so I needed to toughen up, and pretty much my goal for majority of my life was don't cry. And if you do you gotta go hide somewhere so no one ever sees you crying because that means you're weak and incapable of handling life. That was the story that I told myself.

40 | Meeting at the Middle
11/07/2017 Duration: 26minThere's always about 50% that we have to own. That 50% could be a very creative 50%. It may not be the most blatant. But there are chunks that we could own in every scenario.

39 | Leadership is Art because of VISION
19/05/2017 Duration: 12minPart of being a leader, and this is one of the things that I believe is so different between a manager and a leader, is that a leader has to have the ability to see the vision, the vision for the organization, the vision for the team, and if they can't, it affects their ability to lead, so not only do you have to be able to know and understand the vision, you have to be able to understand it at a level that you can align with it and know at your core if you believe that you can align with it. In this episode, we explore how vision is the #5 reason as to why Leadership is Art.
-
38 | Leadership is Art because of EXPECTATIONS
18/05/2017 Duration: 11minThere is nothing out there that people just know unless you have some sort of certification and governing licensing body that's providing that information. If it's not taught in orientation, if it's not established by the organization, you can't just assume that people know. Reason #4 is very real and alive. It's something that we're all dealing with every day.
-
37 | Leadership is Art because of THE LINES
17/05/2017 Duration: 08minIf you choose to cross a line, you should make sure that it is a meaningful cross. In this episode, we explore how the lines are the #3 reason as to why Leadership is Art.
-
36 | Leadership is Art because of THEM
16/05/2017 Duration: 06minIndividuality that we all have is exactly what causes us to bring so much value to organizations, but with that incredible value, that incredible beauty of our own individual uniqueness comes this other piece which is the fun fact that it presents a lot of challenges. In this episode, we explore how they are the #2 reason as to why Leadership is Art.
-
35 | Leadership is Art because of YOU
15/05/2017 Duration: 05minFaking it till you make it does not work in Leadership, because it begins with YOU. This is the topic of this episode, as we explore how you are the number one reason as to why Leadership is Art.
