Bridging The Gap

Last time we began a look at the Holy Spirit, and the important role He plays in our every day lives. As  misunderstood and underestimated as the Holy Spirit is, we can never spend too much time getting to know Him, and what He can do when we utilize His incredible power.

As we continue pastor Lloyd’s series called Every Day Theology, we’re going to spend the next four broadcasts looking at what God’s word says about the Holy Spirit. Debates are waged every day about the Holy Spirit’s role and His gifts. Yet, there need not be such a controversy, if we go directly to Gods word and find out what He says!

Every Day Theology is the topic once again today as pastor Lloyd Pulley continues his series dealing with the basics of what we believe, and why we believe it. The Bible is the best selling book in history, without question. Yet, if you asked a cross section of people where it would belong in a book store, many would put it in the fiction section. Can we trust that what we read in the Bible is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? Absolutely!

We’re currently enjoying a series from pastor Lloyd called “Every Day Theology”. We’ve taken a look at the natural aspects of God, and we’ve looked at the moral aspects of God. Today we switch gears just a little and look at the word of God, the Bible. Is it reliable? Is it true from page one to the end? How did the books of the Bible get in the Bible? These are some of the questions we’ll answer over the next two broadcasts.

Have you ever considered the difference between justice and mercy? We hear cries for justice all the time, but as pastor Lloyd will share with us today - the last thing any of us want from God is justice - because getting justice is getting what we deserve! On the other hand, there is God’s mercy and His holiness. That’s what today’s message is about as we once again consider the moral attributes of God.

 Today in Bridging the Gap, pastor Lloyd Pulley continues our new series called “Every Day Theology”, as we look at the moral attributes of God. Is He a mean God? Is He a vengeful God? Is He a happy - go - lucky God? We’ll find out over the next two broadcasts. Turn to Exodus chapter thirty four as a starting point.

On our last program we began a new series, titled “Everyday Theology”. Now, a nuts and bolts approach to theology is not the direction we are going. Instead, we seek to learn who God is and what He’s like, but also to apply what we’ve learned in a practical way. If we truly seek to worship God and love Him as deeply as we can, then it only makes sense that we would desire to really know Him. Today we’ll again look at the natural attributes of God. 

 It’s been said “to know me is to love me”. And that’s exactly what God thinks about Theology - the more we get to know who God is, the more we’ll love and worship Him! So that’s what we’ll do for the next couple of weeks or so - learn to know God - through a series called “Every Day Theology”. Today we’ll begin by getting to know who God is by looking at His natural attributes.

Today we’ll bring you the final message in Lloyd’s series titled “The Family of God”, and today we’ll again concentrate on raising Godly kids. I could quote a whole bunch of statistics for you to show what a mess we’re in in the area of juvenile crime, but we really don’t need to be reminded, do we? Kids these days are being influenced in every area of life, and many times the parents are the last to know what influences are having an impact. So... what do we do?

Today on Bridging the Gap, pastor Lloyd Pulley begins the final message in his series called “The Family of God”, by looking at the role a father plays, and how our own Heavenly Father should be the role model for every dad. We’ll begin in First John chapter three, but have your Bible ready to jump around a bit!

Our marriages should be a reflection of our relationship with Jesus Christ.

The topic of discussion continues to be marriage today, as Lloyd Pulley continues his new series called “The Family of God”. One of the reason so may marriages fail in the year 2024 is that we have strayed away from God’s carefully defined roles for husbands and wives. Men and women are really different, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, and God made us that way, so why are we trying to remake our marriage roles?

Today we continue pastor Lloyd Pulley’s series called “The Family of God”. Our topic today is roles in marriage. God’s word sets forth very specific roles for marriage, and we have got to really understand what He’s saying in order to have a Godly marriage. That’s what we’ll do over the next four broadcasts - get to know our roles in marriage. As you probably know, there is a huge effort underway in this society to redefine marriage. God’s definition is the only one that counts.

We have just begun a new series from pastor Lloyd Pulley called “The Family of God”. Today we’ll explore how the Church is the body of Christ. Now, that’s something that most Christians have heard over the course of their lives, but do we really know what it means? And more importantly, do we know how to activate that body for the good of all and the glory of God? Our scripture reference is the sixth chapter of Galatians.

Today we begin a series from pastor Lloyd called “The Family of God”. We’ll begin today with a study in Galatians six, and the definition of what a church is supposed to be. As you no doubt are aware, there is what’s called the universal Church.  It’s made up of believers around the world, but today we’ll be narrowing our focus to the local Church.  What should be the function of the church? What should be the function of the individuals who make up the church? Pastor Lloyd will be answering those questions over the next two broadcasts.

Today we bring you pastor Lloyd’s final message in his series through the epistle of James. James was a no nonsense guy. Today he would be referred to as a “straight shooter”. He didn’t mince words when it came to challenging the Christians of his day to live out their faith in a way that would be very obvious to the people around them. We need to be challenged in that way today as well, wouldn’t you agree?

We’re near the end of our study of James right now. In fact, today we bring you part one of pastor Lloyd’s final message in James.  Backsliders are, unfortunately, very common in the Christian church today. Someone who was so on fire for the Lord suddenly disappears from church, and the next thing you know, they are right back living in the world. Why does this happen, and what can we do about it?

Once again today we will be in the epistle of James, as we near the end of our journey through this challenging and practical letter. Prayer for the afflicted will be the central theme of today’s message. We all know someone who is going through physical illness right now. Does praying for them really do any good? Will God automatically heal anyone we pray for? These are questions we have all asked at one time or another.

Many who look at James chapter five misinterpret what the author is truly saying.  James tells the sick person to call for the elders, and let them pray over him or her, and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.  Then he goes on to say that the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick.  Does this mean that God will heal everyone who prays with faith?  A good question, and Pastor Lloyd Pulley will have an answer in just a moment as we return to our study of James.
