  • Mother West Wind's Children Part 1

    15/03/2019 Duration: 14min

Since I didn’t get an episode done for National Read Aloud Day, I decided to do a short series of episodes reading a book instead. I’ve chosen stories from “Mother West Wind’s Children” by Thornton W. Burgess. I also wanted to do some short episodes because I want to test various microphones so we can hear the difference before I do some longer episodes I have coming up. Let me know what you think. I’m going to do about 10 minute episodes. If the story takes longer than that I’ll find a good breaking point and I’ll continue in the next episode.

  • Ep 97 Thorton Burgess Read Aloud

    15/05/2018 Duration: 30min

I missed the read aloud event this year (grump technical issues), but I still wanted to honor it and I thought it would be a great episode to get back up to speed. Burgess was a naturalist who wrote a column for children about wildlife. His stories were about humanized wild animals. They wear clothes and talk, but otherwise act as the real animals do. His stories were set in the Green Meadows and the Green Forest. Since they were originally written in a column each chapter begins with a recap and ends on a cliff hanger. They are perfect early reader (around 2nd grade) books. This one is The Adventures of Grandfather Frog.
