2 Peter 2
26/09/2021Senior Pastor Shaun Higgins teaches on 2 Peter 2. This is the seventh sermon in the series on 1 Peter & 2 Peter: "Stand Firm." 2 Peter is a reminder that we serve a Sovereign God who is in control of all events! In chapter 2, the apostle Peter warns the persecuted believers of the danger of false teachers who were increasing in number and popularity by telling people what they wanted to hear and twisting Christ’s teaching. He urged the believers (and urges us) to expect this and to stand firm by paying close attention and holding fast to God’s truth. Through the references to Noah and Lot, the righteous are reassured of God’s care for them, and the wicked are warned of God’s destruction if they do not repent.

2 Peter 1

The book of 2 Peter is written with an emphasis on holy living, sanctification, and how to address false teaching. The recurring theme is standing firm in the midst of deception, persecution, and false teaching. Peter encourages believers not to allow any of these trials to bring them sadness, because we have God’s promises that He will make things right, and we have the assurance that His timing is perfect.

Jonah 3
05/09/2021Senior Pastor Shaun Higgins teaches on Jonah 3. This is the third sermon in the series on The Book of Jonah. In the third chapter of Jonah, we see the prophet’s change of heart as he obediently proclaims God’s message of impending judgment on the wicked Ninevites. What a reminder that we serve a God of second chances who pursues us with patient and persistent love. Our disobedience doesn’t change God; on the contrary, His relentless love changes us! This four-week sermon series shows God’s great love and relentless pursuit of sinful people. From renegade cities to rebellious prophets, nobody is beyond God’s reach! When Jonah initially rejects God’s call to preach to the city of Nineveh, he finds himself floating in a sea of regret. We also learn that there are costs, to ourselves and those around us, when we try to outrun God’s purpose for our lives.

Jonah 2
29/08/2021Senior Pastor Shaun Higgins teaches on Jonah 2. This is the second sermon in the series on The Book of Jonah. In the second chapter of Jonah, we see the prophet literally hit rock bottom, and how God rescues him and redirects his thoughts and actions. From renegade cities to rebellious prophets, nobody is beyond God’s reach! We are reminded that God is both powerful and patient, not willing that any perish but that all come to repentance!

1 Peter 5
15/08/2021Senior Pastor Shaun Higgins teaches on 1 Peter 5. This is the fifth sermon in the series on 1 Peter & 2 Peter: "Stand Firm." In 1 Peter 5, the apostle Peter gives instructions about how we are to relate to one another in the Body of Christ. He addresses leaders as well as the flock, and gives practical advice about standing firm in our faith and resisting our enemy, the devil. We are reminded that suffering is part of a Christian’s life on this earth, and that God’s power sustains us through such times. We see how God’s grace equips us to share Christ’s suffering out of gratitude for the undeserved gift we have received from God through Christ.
