The truth is we cannot see over the horizon of tomorrow. We don’t know exactly how things are going to turn out. We know there are a lot of very smart people who are working on it. We know that the whole world is in the same situation and that every government, every person in a decision-making position, that every scientist and every medical research, and all over our first responders around the world are working on a solution. So there is some hope! But I want to encourage you to lean into another kind of hope that is much more likely to provide assurance as well as needed wisdom of this day and this hour. And that hope is based on faith and of course, the faith that the Biblical author was referring to is faith in God, our Father and our Creator

The refugee crisis in the world has never been greater. What refugees today go through was what most, if not all Christians struggled with in the first century. Today we will look at what it means to see ourselves as exiles in this world and citizens of another. 

We live in a world that is increasingly dismissive and even antagonistic to the Christian faith. Jude asks us to "contend for the faith" which is why this series is called Faith Defends.  This week we look at Jude's exhortation to embrace our liberty without being a libertine. We also talk about his encouragement to build ourselves up in what he calls the "most holy faith."

This second part of Jude is a difficult passage. And it's challenging on a moral level. That said we can live in a way that honors God and declines to do evil.

Jude asks his readers to contend for the faith. He wants them to share with others the hope that they have in Jesus. This doesn't mean being contentious. It doesn't mean being defensive. One can contend (defend) and not be defensive at the same time. It wise for us to think about how to share our faith in ways that honor God.
