Who heckles an American icon such as Roy Rogers? Well it happened at UCLA when I was there to cover a rare appearance by the King of the Cowboys.

On Martin Luther King Day in 1994 the earth in the San Fernando Valley shook violently resulting in the Northridge Earthquake. It was family first, radio news second on that day.

Bob covered five Super Bowl games but two stnad out,  his first in New Orleans the day before the Challenger disaster and the Doug Williams San Diego game where there was controversy over a reporter's question about Doug being African American, which Bob straightens out this urban legend because he was there.

The events leading up to and after the Golden Gate Bridge 50th anniversary were as bizarre as the event itself.

The 1989 San Francisco earthquake was one of the most tragic and certainly disruptive in recent memory. Bob covered it along with three other UPI Radio Network Correspondents. Billy Graham was there as well as the return to the World Series between the Giants and A's.
