He believes that we are now experiencing a “culture of suicide.” To a large degree, hope depends on ‘the church’ and individual Christians who are willing to share and listen. “One of the problems, and particularly in the last year as a country and as a world, is isolation. And as we’re beginning to come out of that, I think we’ve got to be intentional about extending hospitality to others. You know, you can go to a church and feel isolated, but when somebody says, ‘Hey, how about coming with me to get pizza or coming to my house for a meal,’ that’s a very powerful invitation.” By doing so, you might keep a person from harming themself by providing some comforting conversation, perhaps sharing your own struggles and solutions, and if the time feels right, sharing about your relationship with Jesus.
