Sunday August 21, 2016 Luke 16:19-31 Do you still enjoy celebrating your birthday? Or is it a day that reminds you how you came up short from the past year. Are you fighting regret? I don't want you to wish that you ha cared more for the people around you if you had just seen them. I don' want you to think, I wish I had listened to God's prophets and to Jesus. I don't ever want you to think, I wish I'd had the courage to live a life in which my actions were more in line with my beliefs. Jesus short story invites us to step out of regret. Although we make mistakes, Jesus provides us an opportunity for fresh start. The warning, if we expend everything on ourselves then there is nothing left in our heavenly treasury. Today we must put we must put our love to work in others.

August 14, 2016 Luke 18:9-14 How would you evaluate the handling of your heart? the heart of others? Jesus short story today speaks of God's divine grace which cannot be limited by our dislike of those we deem as "bad". Who is good? Who is bad? We all need Jesus. We all need turning. We all need to be serving in love.

We can certainly relate to these emotions moving through our own life. But God provides the sustenance we need to carry on with the purpose for which we are designed. To renew our faith God prescribes a retreat, to rest, eat, hike, so that we will certain see what God is doing and hear that we are loved and called.

June 12, 2016 Genesis 2:4-9, 15-17 Galatians 5:1, 13-25 God defines the role of humanity to be fruitful in producing and multiplying the ways of God on earth. In other words, we are to be chefs of God's fruit salad. God has supplied us with many good ingredients to be faithful in our work. But we insist on putting the one poisonous ingredient in the mix, our own self sufficiency. Today's message challenges us to trust on and lean on God and allow God's good fruit to produced in us.

June 5, 2016 Exodus 16:1-15 Today we began a new sermon series about stories from the Bible that involve food. In today's story the Israelites complain about their lack of food. God provides manna, the bread from heaven. How do we complain today our lack? In times of crisis we turn to an imaginary past and we give up on the future. In what ways is God truly providing constant blessings? When you wake up and look at your day ask yourself, "What does this day hold?" I hope that God's word will inspire you to answer, "Today is a great gift and God supplies me with everything I need!"

Jesus came to inaugurate the upside kingdom where boundaries around tribe or racial divides were cut down. In 2016 their is great racial and religious tension and fear surrounding the stranger and the foreigner. Who are we keeping to keep out that Jesus is trying to invite in?

Sometimes temptation is not to engage in bad behavior but its the urging to do something good but without God's help, outside of God's direction for your life. How do you stand guard of temptations?
