RTY were invited to the ICTEdu conference in LIT Thurles. The theme of the conference was Global Voices and the use of technology in education. While at the conference RTY interviewed the Minister of State at the Dept of Education, Minister Ciaran Cannon. Radio TY won an Eircom Junior Spider Award this week. Here some of the team tell us about the day they had at The Foundry in Google HQ, Dublin.

1st Yrs give their thoughts after watching the Girl Rising film.

This week TY held an Awareness Week about the importance of educating girls. As well as announcements, and posters around the school, they showed a story from the film Girl Rising to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Years in the Demo Room each lunchtime. We went to Citywest on a Development Education trip where we were told how to set up our mini NGO's (Non-Governmental Organisations) and then met with some of the members of the NGO's that were there. Lauren and Claire from RTY interviewed one of the members of Burma Action Ireland who tells us of his difficult past in Burma and how he hopes circumstances there will improve. We learnt how we need to be more aware of what's going on in the world and not just in our own locality.

Last week three TY's Ciara, Aoife and Melissa went on a trip with Mrs. L to NUI Maynooth to give a talk to student teachers about Development Education. While they were there they did asked one volunteer to do a podcast. Here it is.....

St Wolstan's TY attended the Schools Across Borders student conference recently in City West Hotel, Dublin. The conference was an opportunity for the 6 schools in the SAB Global Citizenship network to get together and share ideas on what it means to be a global citizen. Radio TY was there and conducted this interview with Maggie from National Youth Council of Ireland.

St Wolstan's TY attended the Schools Across Borders student conference recently in City West Hotel, Dublin. The conference was an opportunity for the 6 schools in the SAB Global Citizens network to get together and share ideas on what it means to be a global citizen. Radio TY was there and conducted some interviews with the NGO's who were conducting workshops and offering advice on setting up our own mini NGO to take action. We talk to Concern, Trocaire, Irish Aid, and Burma Action Ireland.

Don't be put off by the title! This interview is all about the Home Ec programme in TY. (Although us TY's do talk trash sometimes!) This week on Radio TY we interviewed current TY's and teachers preparing for the Junk Kouture competition. Students explained to us what their outfits were made of, and the teachers told us about the process involved in getting ready for the competition.

RTY interviews some parents and incoming first years at our recent Open Morning. Everyone seemed very impressed with the school and we look forward to welcoming the new first years in September.
