While buzz words like “high density” and “mixed use” are standard in planning conversations, it is not always clear how to put these ideas into practice. Planners and city staff from all over Ontario are taking risks and experimenting with new design ideas to transform our cities.  They are embracing the culture of “learning by doing” to test their ideas in the real world.  We share stories from cities like Goderich and Bramption.  Goderich was ravaged by a tornado in August 2011 and was then faced with the task of rebuilding their city. The City of Brampton embraced transit as the basis for the redesign of the Mount Pleasant community. Tune in to hear how these cities and others are revamping their communities by pushing the boundaries and challenging what it means to have “good design”! Big thanks to Heather Ross, Alisha Anderson, Larry McCabe, Chip Wilson, Susan Armstrong, Susanna Reid, Rob Voigt, Jill Grant, and Alex Teranu for lending their voices and their stories to Cities Alive Community By Design.
