Following Christ is a journey. Like any long journey on foot over mountains and through valleys and rivers, the hiker must carry sustenance, a(n) (emergency) communication system, and a means of shelter. Each of these are metaphors for what is required for a long and often arduous - yet exciting - journey. In order to enjoy and delight in this journey to our glorious eternal destiny, the believer must pack the sustenance of God's Word, their communication system with their Saviour through prayer, and to secure their rightful place among their fellow pilgrims in God's House - their shelter and haven - the local church.
