(Ep16) Rita Gayle: A Global Perspective of the Black Experience

Informações:

Synopsis

This is a PHENOMENAL conversation with my sister from the U.K., Rita Gayle. Rita is the author of the compelling book ‘Friend Across the Water: A personal journal inside Black America’. Formerly of the BBC, Rita is a journalist, author, academic and lecturer. She has a broad knowledge of global affairs which she demonstrates expertly in this conversation. In our interview, Rita discusses the moral obligation that Black Americans (former slaves) have in sharing our experiences with our Brothers and Sisters who live abroad. She talks about the risks of not doing so when Hollywood and others are presenting their own versions which often fall short in accuracy. Rita also discusses the conditions of Blacks living in Europe and the struggles they face which have both similarities and unique distinctions from our own in America. This interview was recorded live at CROETV studios in Chicago, Illinois while we were both there to commemorate the 31st anniversary of the Coalition for Remembrance of Elijah Muham
