The Last Boy Scout (1991)

Synopsis

On this episode I chat with comedian and filmmaker Gary White about the early 90s ferocious football flick The Last Boyscout starring Damon Wayans and in arguably his best performance ever, Bruce Willis. Bruce Willis, at his acting and popularity peak, agreed to do this movie only because of the involvement of Tony Scott but after Willis and producer Joel Silver practically took over production, it was a miracle such a clasic film came out of it. Written originally by Shane Black (but massively changed by Willis and Silver) it tells the story of a cop at the end of his rope and a washed up football player caught in a national level conspiracy to legalise gambling on football games in the US. Many assassination attempts, some great realistic stunt work, a few ropey car chases, some questionable sexual misconduct and loads of other stuff that would never make it into a film today, The LAst Boyscout delivers relentless action with some equally relentlessly shitty puns and cop jokes! A must watch for action fans!
