Growing up in small town Ohio, Kristin Shrimplin was different. In high school, she was silenced by relentless bullies. Later on, she thought having power and being in control would protect her, but her journey to empowerment—and sobriety—actually involved acknowledging she was powerless. On episode 113, Kristin explains the liberation of being powerless, the importance of language, and how she approaches serving others. Today, Kristin is the president and CEO of Women Helping Women, a gender-based violence prevention and crisis intervention center. Despite the challenges she’s faced, she brings a positivity to her relationships and work that is worth emulating.
