3D bioprinting looks set to have a huge impact on the field of regenerative medicine by allowing the artificial generation of tissues and organs through fabrication of scaffolds and 3D tissues, supporting cell or drug delivery, and so on. However, this requires the development and use of biomaterials that meet the physical, chemical and functional requirements for each use.
