After I left California, my friend Mandy and I lost touch. When I check in with her ten years later, I have no idea what I'm in for. And then, an abyss of mental illness, abuse and dependancy opens up. But Mandy wouldn't be Mandy if she didn't still have her great sense of humor - and the unshakeable determination to just put one foot in front of the other and keep going.
