When our Blessed Lady came to Fatima a hundred years ago, in June of that year, as she was about to depart, she showed the children her Immaculate Heart, which they described, she was holding in her hand and it was surrounded by thorns. We think of what that means, surrounded by thorns. Where do these thorns come from? We should not be surprised to find that the thorns in fact represent sin, because it is sin that wounds the heart of Our Lord and consequently necessarily it must wound the heart of his Mother.
