Synopsis

Can you imagine the person that created everything, knows everything, has seen everything in the past, present, and future, and has every right to sit back and be loved, adored, and praised… sets all of that down to become a servant. Paul writes in Philippians 2 that, “though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant.” I think that phrase, ’emptied himself’ says it the best. As a Christ follower, we must empty ourself, but not out of selfishness or our own ambition, or a way for us to get credit, but rather acting in humility, and the interest of others. When we do that today, Paul states the result in verse 11, “so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
