Duncan is also a qualified counsellor and likes to maintain his practice alongside running the charity. After breaking his silence about being sexually abused and raped as a child, Duncan struggled to find specialist support in Manchester, instead he had to travel over 300 miles each time he needed to access a support service in another part of the UK. After focussing on his own healing, in 2008 with just £250 in his pocket Duncan founded Survivors Manchester – a charity that supports male survivors of sexual abuse, harm and exploitation in Greater Manchester.
