Rhys delivered a series of lectures in an Overview of Addictions class in a Masters in Counseling program. This lecture is the first of five lectures asking the question, “What is Addiction?” and exploring various models of how addiction is understood. In this lecture, he explores “The “House of Addiction,” which describes the major components to consider in what addiction is. He alsodiscusses the Moral/Criminal Model and the Temperance Model of Addiction and make comments about their limitations, particularly as relates to the failed War on Drugs.
