Still With You

Yemisrach Melton has lived in two different worlds. Though she was raised on a farm in rural Montana, where the air was fresh and the stars were radiant, this was not her first home. Her story began in Ethiopia far beyond the mountains of Big Sky Country.Exactly six years ago, July 2014, I had the honor of meeting Yemi on a two week mission trip to Costa Rica with Never the Same Missions. We had both earned a spot on this adventure by winning Sisterhood Magazine's (formerly known as Brio Magazine) "Faith in the Wait" essay contest.I will never forget talking to Yemi for the first time, using my parent's landline, and listening to her story of rescue and redemption. She was only ten years old when she left Ethiopia and was adopted by a family in the United States. Everything was new, she was scared, did not speak English, and most of all she missed her mother. Seven years later Yemi's toes touched Ethiopian soil and she was able to reunite with her biological mother once again. Her mother had been praying for
