Can AI improve maternal mortality

Informações:

Synopsis

Maternal mortality in the United States is abysmal with a rate of 18 deaths per 100,000 live births. This stat is not uniform across all races as black women have 3x higher mortality rate than white women regardless of socioeconomic status. Although there are multiple factors that contribute to this disparity, physician bias may be a significant factor. It has been recently proposed that artificial intelligence be used in obstetrics as a way to support physician decision making. We will discuss this topic with engineering graduate student Camielle Isioma Nwae.
