In 1991 he moved on to firefighting in northern Ontario, spending 17 years with the City of Greater Sudbury Fire and Emergency Services as a firefighter, Training Officer, Peer Counsellor in Critical Incident Stress Management and Infection Prevention Officer for the Fire Service.
