Synopsis

In this episode, we will be introducing a new segment called “Good for the Dhaqan?”. Dhaqan means culture in Somali and sometimes we find ourselves in situations debating topics that are related to Somalinimo or somehow related to our culture and people, and in this segment, we aim to deconstruct what constitutes as Somali culture in the diaspora and whether or not this thing is good or bad for our culture.    This episode will look at cultural appropriation with the brand Zara under the microscope. Zara was accused of culturally appropriating the Somali baati or dirac sheed and we unpack whether this is good or bad for the Somali dhaqan?
