Tired of big broadband companies meddling in their business and blocking any other consumer options, the town of Fort Collins, Colorado is fighting back. According to an article by Jon Brodkin for arstechnica.com, the city council has overwhelming votes in favor of building their own broadband network with gigabit speeds and staying neutral without data caps. Once built, the city promises a better price plan and privacy versus the bigger broadband that tried lobbying aggressively against it because the city claimed they were spreading misinformation to the voters through their ISPs.
