This is the simple challenge that the Lord burdened me to bring at the start of our 2026 24-hour prayer meeting. As soon as you wake up in the morning, get on your knees and begin praying for your family, your friends, your finances (work)—all before looking at your phone. It can wait. The remarkable backstory to this challenge is that before the prayer time began, I was sitting in the room with one BJU student. We were just chatting small talk for a few minutes until he told me how much his own prayer life had been affected of late. "Oh really? Tell me more," I said. "Well," he continued, "about a year ago, someone challenged me to pray as soon as I woke up. So, I told my girlfriend that we should try it for a week and see what we thought. As soon as I got up the next day, I got on my knees and started praying. I've been doing that for the past year and it has transformed my prayer life."
