Fr. Pierre preached at all of the masses at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church this past weekend. In this homily from the 5 PM Mass, Fr. Pierre discusses what is needed to be a disciple of Jesus. All that is needed to spread the gospel message is to be called and sent by Jesus Christ. I'm struck by the word used to indicate how Jesus made his first apostles, the verb "summoned." That's a very authoritative word, a strong word, a word that puts Jesus completely in charge of this mission. He's not having a dialogue or a consultation with them! Jesus has a word to deliver, he's got power to deliver, and he chooses the ones who will deliver them exactly as He wishes. The word send is a strong, authoritative word too.
