This week on #TubtaNabadda, ahead of World Food Day 2024, we highlight Somalia’s food security and sustainable agriculture practices. In our first segment, we hear from Ezana Kassa, the of Head of Programme at FAO Somalia. He discusses the urgent food security challenges facing the country, and how FAO is providing support to the Somali government and people to address these issues and ensure the right to food for everyone. He also highlights key initiatives aimed at raising awareness and promoting sustainable agriculture practices across Somalia. In the second segment, we hear from Mohamed Yasin Artan, the Director of Food Security, Food Systems, and Climate Impact at Somalia’s Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation. He discusses the ministry's initiatives to boost agricultural productivity and food security, along with specific government strategies being implemented to combat the impacts of climate change.
