She was generous to a fault, opening her home to friends and family alike.Joan graduated from UCLA and took up the profession of teaching while enjoying the pastime sports of downhill skiing and tennis which she played up until her mid-seventies. She taught both in the public schools as well as at St. Patrick Episcopal School.Joan’s kitchen was always ready to prepare some sweet treat for anyone visiting her home and she always kept her orange cookie tin full of either homemade oatmeal-chocolate chip-raisin cookies or congo bars, both being made from recipes given to her by her sister-in-law Sidney.Joan loved to knit and sew.
