A European candidate for this region has spoken out against the narrative that environmental measures such as the nitrates derogation are anti-farming. It's after the Tánaiste has issued a statement confirming his party is "absolutely committed to applying for and securing the nitrates derogation at European level", following comments made by Fianna Fáil's Barry Andrews which indicated he didn't support the directive.
