Catherine Pakaluk, an economist and director of Social Research at the Catholic University, recently asked the question why do these women decide to have more children? She traveled across the country and spoke with 55 women, all of whom had 5 or more children, to find out why they decided to have more children. Her new book, "Hannah's Children: the Women Quietly Defying the Birth Dearth," contains her research and stories of the women she interviewed.
