The Minnesota Twins defeated the Detroit Tigers 7-0 in Friday's series opener at Comerica Park. Joe Ryan pitched six scoreless innings in his final start of his rookie season, striking out eight of the 24 Tigers he faced. Ryan broke the Twins' rookie record with his 145th strikeout, passing Francisco Liriano. Carlos Correa hit a homer in the win, his 22nd of the season. The Twins are 77-80 with five more games to go.
