Many people, after a life-changing experience, say that they have a "new lease on life." Their views and habits can be radically transformed because of their new perspectives. In Colossians 3, Paul says that we have not just a new lease on life, but a new life altogether. This causes us to put away the "old self" and put on the "new self: which is never just lip service.
