Prostate Cancer Coalition Formed for Smart Screening and AA Men

Jade Harrell with Dr. Lannis Hall and Dr. Arnold Bullock of the Prostate Cancer Coalition. In this interview, Dr. Hall and Dr. Bullock discuss the findings, the urgency and the life-saving difference Smart Screening can have in the lives of high-risk men of color. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (authorized by Congress) determined that PSA prostate screening tests were no longer necessary for men who do not show symptoms or family history of the disease. Dr. Hall and Dr. Bullock teamed with a coalition of health care providers and survivors in the Saint Louis Region to advocate Smart Screening for African American men and men with strong family histories of prostate cancer. The Prostate Cancer Coalition outreach is an effort to address the glaring disparity in survival rates between African-American men and other ethnic groups.
