Shanghai Fortress is a 2019 Chinese science fiction and romance film directed by Teng Huatao and stars Lu Han and Shu Qi. Based on Jiang Nan's eponymous sci-fi novel (also translated as Once Upon a Time in Shanghai), the film depicts the human race's last stand in Shanghai fighting against aliens who try to seize a hidden energy source on earth in 2042.

Pitch Black is a 2000 American science fiction action horror film co-written and directed by David Twohy. The film stars Vin Diesel, Radha Mitchell, Cole Hauser, and Keith David. Dangerous criminal Richard B. Riddick (Diesel) is being transported to prison in a spacecraft.

Oblivion is a 2013 American post-apocalyptic action-adventure film co-produced and directed by Joseph Kosinski, and produced by Peter Chernin with screenplay by Karl Gajdusek and Michael deBruyn, starring Tom Cruise in the main role alongside Olga Kurylenko, Morgan Freeman and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in supporting roles. Tau is a 2018 science fiction thriller film directed by Federico D'Alessandro from a screenplay by Noga Landau. It stars Maika Monroe, Ed Skrein and Gary Oldman. It was released on June 29, 2018, by Netflix.

G.O.R.A. is a 2004 Turkish science-fiction comedy film, directed by Ömer Faruk Sorak, which stars Cem Yılmaz as a used carpet salesman who is abducted by aliens from the planet G.O.R.A. OtherLife is a 2017 Australian science fiction thriller film directed by Ben C. Lucas. It stars Jessica De Gouw as the co-founder of Otherlife where they develop a form of biological virtual reality. When her partner, played by T. J. Power, insists she license it for unethical use, she struggles to retain control of her invention with the help of her lover, played by Thomas Cocquerel.The film is loosely based on the novel Solitaire by Kelley Eskridge.
