Broken hearts. Broken bones. Broken pinkie promises. Let’s face it: growing up is no picnic, but the lessons learned in adolescence can have an enormous impact on the rest of our lives. Growing pains are an experience that’s universal for those of us fortunate enough to reach adulthood, so it’s no surprise that ever-opportunistic Hollywood bigwigs tap this deep well often. Join us this week as our reflective cohosts name a house plant, recall an embarrassing story of a dare gone wrong, and pitch a trio of wholesome coming-of-age stories.

Why doesn’t Hollywood go gaga for traditional musicals anymore? Did Russell Crowe’s gravelly Javert really spoil what could’ve been a renaissance of what was once one of film’s greatest genres? On this week’s episode our musically-inclined cohosts scratch their collective noggins as to why this generation of songsmiths haven’t gotten their deserved days in the sun, wax poetic about days of music and musicals past, and pitch three of the most melodic films you haven’t heard yet.

So the world as we know it came to a fiery and/or pestilent end. Major bummer, to be sure. But guess what? Always looking to score a quick buck, this week our cohosts pitch their best brainchildren for movies based around classic toys.

Meryl Streep is the queen of acting. This much is known. But is there any role too challenging for even her to turn into some shiny new Academy Award hardware? Join us this week as our star-struck hosts pitch the role (and film) that’s sure to bring the most out of Meryl and turn her overflowing award shelf into a veritable warehouse of honors.
