While walking along the highway the group is approached by a friendly pastor who offers his house for them to rest for the night. They graciously accept, but realize their religious practices (or lack there of) may come up during their stay. But to get the home-cooked meal they power through the awkwardness. Anders is becoming bored with the walk so the group decides to go to a local bar for jazz night. A couple days pass as the group waits out the snowstorm in a small hostel. They're able to find someone to drive them back to Rainy Pass so they can make-up their walk (No cheating!). It's the first day of walking without Isaac. The group ponders the reason for his leaving as they head for the North Cascades. After playing a riveting game of desert island, the group decides to get a motel for the night in Sedro-Wooley to avoid a large storm. After some heavy traffic and light rain, the group rests near a lake to give their feet a break and to test out their newly acquired water filters.
