Definitely a number of essential songs on this list, but they missed a number of mind-bending classic psychedelic songs, just off the top of my head. Nonetheless, fun to think about.

Included: another old song snippet, very dark; thoughts on Gentlemanly Art of Spanking manuscript rejection; a snippet of lyrics from "Sweet Thing" on David Bowie's Diamond Dogs album. 

I saw Love Lies Bleeding the other night. Really well done, but a little too noir for me. 

Working on my next, as yet unnamed, album. I'm getting up to speed on all the new production techologies, thought I would start with a relatively simple song. I still don't have lyrics for the two verses. They will arrive in their own time, as they always do. So far I'm very happy with the mix, still tons and tons to do, but it's okay as a glorified sketch. I hope you like it!

So when we last encountered ort narrator, he had, having fled the loving bosom of his newly-redecorated Oakland flat under threat of death from the thugs up the street, landed, at last, in Los Angeles and had begun to explore this alien culture while trying to sell HoneyBun Spanking Kits. HoneyBun was the logical outcome of the hugely successful article, "The Gentlemanly Art of Spanking" on Salon.com. Los Angeles (and Las Vegas) was a culture and place he had been taught, as a fourth generation Northern Californian, to belittle, fear, and distrust from a very early age.  The story is now a full-length memoir and in the hands of my agent it New York City.

Another example of why Apple, and variably, Mrs. Mark without Steve Jobs there. In this case, the ad campaign for the iPhone 15 camera and it’s portraiture capabilities. Putting pictures of children on billboards that no parent would ever share with any other human being.

 The story of Eugenie, an esteemed cook, and Dodin, the fine gourmet who she has been working for over the last 20 years, a wonderful celebration of food, friends, romance. Starring Juliette Binoche.

I knew Bernie back in the 70s and 80s. We drank in the same newspaper bar south of market in San Francisco. He was a legend. They don’t make them like Bernie anymore. Extraneous thoughts about the big day. One cultural phenomenon interacts with another. Do all boats rise?

It was six Ty years ago today Sergeant Pepper taught the band to play, wait, no …. it was the day “I want to hold your hand” hit number one on the billboard chart in the United States. And Beatlemania took over the world.

I was so happy to see Jason Statham back in a big budget action movie. The beekeeper is right out of the John Wick mold, but with a better story, at least a better story than the third and fourth installments of the John Wick series. Jeremy Irons plays the inimitable, aristocratic monster as only he can. Great cinematography great editing, and clearly room for a second installment.

A quick visit to Knickerbocker, and happy to discover that the frogs are back full force. I didn’t expect them because the pond is a little low still. There’s clearly enough for the frogs and their eggs and the pollywogs though.

"1971—The Year That Music Changed Everything on Apple TV" is an amazing eight-part documentary series on Apple TV, chronicling the end, or the collapse, if you will, of the Sixties and the birth of the Seventies. Culture, politics, and the music of Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Sly Stone, The Rolliing Stones, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, John Lennon, Lou Reed, David Bowie, Marc Bolan, Alice Cooper, Tina Turner, the list goes on. Beautifully written and edited. Lots of footage I've never see before. Highly recommended

After two episodes of the new season of True Detective, I am underwhelmed at best. I'm going to give in one more episode. I wanted it to be great again (to coin a phrase)!
